saveutasp.org Website Disclaimer
The content of the
saveutasp.org website is not necessarily representative of the viewpoints
of the faculty, staff, and students of the UT Department of Audiology
and Speech Pathology.
However, all of the above people do want the
UT ASP programs to be continued, and obviously feel very strongly about
this. They are working to advocate for the program in any and all ways
available.
The Department
did not originate the idea for this website. It came about after the
first public meeting on June 10 at the Scottish Rite Temple. The original
site, saveuthearingandspeech.org, was being promoted as the official
site for the campaign, but it was, and is, a blog site without the capabilities
of a full website. Volunteers discussed
and promoted the need for a full site, resulting in saveutasp.org being
launched on June 13.
Saveutasp.org is a collaborative community venture,
with dozens of individuals contributing to its content. Since the Campaign
is a grassroots movement, we anticipate having many, many more contributors
before this is all over with.
The site lists Dr.
Schwarz and Dr. Harkrider as contacts because they were already serving
as Dept. contacts for the media and others who are concerned about
the proposed termination.
The only content on this site that is originating from
the Department itself is that which is publicly available already. This
site is serving as a public compilation and repository of documents and
resources that are otherwise available only by email.
This site is NOT maintained by any employee of the State
of Tennessee or of the University of Tennessee. Additionally, it is not
hosted on a state-owned webserver, rather, on a privately owned server.
No costs of this site are being reimbursed, there is no public money
used. It is strictly a volunteer contribution. This is strictly non-profit,
and we make NO money from the quoting and reuse of media text
and images. It is our hope that our local media outlets will continue
to support and encourage our use of their information, due to the nature
of this campaign and the benefits that the ASP programs bring to Knoxville
and east Tennessee.
The site will make every effort to make the content
of the site factual and objective, in an effort to share critical information
with the public about the ASP program and clinics at UT-Knoxville, and
to solicit the public's involvement with the Campaign.
Information
on this site is not being
provided to the public by UT administration, and would
not otherwise be available. We feel this site serves a
critical need in making all the facts available to those who are interested
in seeing the ASP programs continued.
