UPDATE, June 30, 2009

As we arrive at the scheduled July 1 transition to UT-Memphis, we have been advised that some issues arose with the major details of the transition. With the cooperation of the ASP Department Heads, we will be attempting to find out what these are and how they will impact the current programs, faculty, and staff. As needed, we will advocate on behalf of the program. All Friends of the UT ASP programs should continue to follow news here on saveutasp.org, as we will have an announcement regarding these issues soon.

The entire budgeting process for the UT System is being held up due to the federal stimulus package monies that will be used by the UT system. Discussions continue on how the funds will be used. This is holding up the preparation of the UT ASP department budget under UT-Memphis as well. The budget should have been set and prepared prior to July 1, but it will not be. Questions remain about filling the currently vacant faculty positions, both academic and clinical. Decisions have also not been made about increasing clinical supervisors' pay, which was promised by UT-Memphis. As information becomes available it will be posted here.

On June 12, the Saveutasp.org website celebrated its one-year anniversary. The website originally was scheduled to be taken down at the end of 2008. However, The Friends of UT ASP have decided to maintain the website into the foreseeable future. The Friends do not believe that the future is guaranteed to be secure for the program.
